GMA swears in 2 Cabinet secretaries, police generals, other officials
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo swore into office today several
government officials among them two members of her Cabinet, two
undersecretaries, one assistant secretary and 22 newly promoted police generals.
The mass oath-taking rites were held this afternoon at the Ceremonial
Hall of Malacaņang.
The Cabinet members who were inducted were Arthur Yap as Secretary of
Agriculture and Imelda Nicolas as the Lead Convenor of the National
Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC). Other ranking officials who took their oath
were Isabel Canlas de Leon as Undersecretary for Media Relations of the
Office of the Press Secretary (OPS), Undersecretary Edwin Enrile of the
Office of the President, and Carissa Cruz as Assistant Secretary of
Trade and Industry.
The President also administered the oath to Reynaldo Jaylo as Chief of
the Anti-Illegal Recruitment Task Force under the Department of Labor
and Employment.
The newly promoted police generals who took their oath of office before
the President were Director Ruben Valencia Cabagnot and Chief
Superintendents Nelson Estares, Merio Froilan Medios, Augusto Angcanan, Jr.,
Rene Elumbang, Edgardo Doromal, Errol Pan Aneto Tolentino, German Doria,
Willfredo Dulay, Ray Roderos, Geary Barias, Ismael Rafanan, Silverio
Alarcio, Joel Goltiao, Luizo Ticman, Adolfo Avenido, Raul Bacalzo, Andres
Caro II, Romulo Adduru and Ricardo Dapat.
The President also administered the oath to a group of newly elected
local government officials led by Gov. Bartolome Marasigan of Oriental
Miindoro, Representative Bienvenido Abante (6th Dist. Manila), Mayor
Sultan Topaan Disomimba of Tamparan, Lanao del Sur, Mayor Alexander
Tommawis of Barira, Maguindanao, Mayor Abolais Manalao of Buldon, Maguindanao,
Mayor Talib Abo and Vice Mayor Paddian Macarimbang of Parang,
Maguindanao.
Other officials who were sworn in were members of the Executive
Committee of the League of the Municipalities of the Philippines headed by
Mayor Ramon Guico, the Rizal Mayors League headed by President Gerardo
Calderon, the Rizal Vice Mayors League headed by President Carmelo Sta.
Isabel, the League of Municipalities of the Philippines Ilocos Norte
Chapter headed by President Corazon Ruiz Abad and the municipal officials
of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte headed by Vice Mayor Esteban Agoy.
