DFA CONDUCTS MOBILE PASSPORT SERVICES IN LABO, CAMARINES NORTE
Still vigorously bringing the services of the DFA
and its partner agencies closer to the people, the DFA’s Regional
Consular Office in Legazpi City, Albay (DFA-RCO Legazpi) conducted a mobile
passport service in Labo, Camarines Norte on 04-05 September 2004 that
coincided with the municipality's celebration of the local Busig-On
Festival.
Along with its partner agencies, the Overseas Workers Welfare
Administration and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, the
DFA-RCO Legazpi also launched the "Sarong Bungkaras," a project delivering a
package of services that included a presentation of government programs
for OFWs and a discussion on illegal recruitment, alongside passport
processing and issuance.
During the two-day mobile passport service, RCO Legazpi was able to
issue 381 passports that were processed during the same weekend while
attending to the concerns of the next-of-kin of OFWs. More than 500
townsfolk benefited from the different activities lined up, some coming from
towns neighboring Labo. The Municipal Mayor of Labo Honorable
Winifredo B. Oco expressed his appreciation for the team for bringing valuable
government services to their area.
