Muslim women groups pledge support for GMA's 10-point agenda
Some 800 Muslim women, representing 49 different
organizations in Mindanao, have expressed strong support to the 10-point agenda of
governance of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
The pledge of support was personally relayed to the President by the
officers and members of the newly-organized Philippine Muslim Women
Council (PMWC) during today’s induction ceremonies administered by the Chief
Executive.
The President motored to the Marco Polo Hotel here from Lioc Kiu
Fraternity Building where she launched the soft opening of the P60 million
Cyber City call center.
In a simple ceremony at the Ballroom 3 of the hotel, the PMWC vowed to
support the administration's 10-point agenda that would uplift the
lives of the Filipino people as well as the ongoing Mindanao Peace Plan
that aims to end the decades-long armed struggle by the Moro Islamic
Liberation Front (MILF).
During the brief program, Department of Social Welfare and Development
Undersecretary Bai Omera D. Lucman, head of the PMWC, presented to the
President the council's resolutions and manifesto that were agreed upon
during their three-day assembly last July 28-30 in Ayala Resort in
Marawi City.
Lucman told the President that they have a sincere commitment and the
dynamic participation of Muslim women in threshing out a lasting culture
of peace in Mindanao.
After partaking lunch with the Muslim women, the President motored to
the Davao Convention and Trade Center where she addressed the 13th
Mindanao Business Conference.
