Secretary of Arroyo Cabinet to brief Filcom and investors on Philippine economic and political situation

New York, NEW YORK --- On 6 and 7 December respectively, Secretary Ricardo Lirag Saludo, Secretary of the Cabinet, Office of the President of the Philippines will brief the Filipino-American community and investors and business groups on the Philippine political and economic situation. New York Consul General Cecilia Rebong shared this information even as she added that Secretary Saludo would give both briefings at the Philippine Center in New York.

The briefing for the Filipino-American community will be held on 6 December, starting at 6:30 P.M., at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center. For those who are not familiar with the place, the Center is located at 556 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan between 45th and 46th streets. The briefing is open to everyone.

The briefing for business and investor groups, on the other hand, will be held on 7 December, 8 A.M., at the Board Room of the Philippine Center. The Philippine American Chamber of Commerce in New York is arranging the briefing. Those intending to join the December 7 briefing are strictly advised to contact the Chamber through Ms. Marijo Arafiles at (212) 764-1330, ext. 601, inasmuch as seating is limited and the briefing itself is open only to business groups, individual entrepreneurs, and commercial entities.

Before his appointment by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as Secretary of the Cabinet in January 2002, Mr. Saludo served as Acting Head, Presidential Management Staff (this is the policy arm of the Office of the President), Office of the President from January to November 2004; Deputy Presidential Spokesperson from July 2003 to September 2004; and Undersecretary and Head of Policy Group, Presidential Management Staff, Office of the President. In his spare time, Secretary Saludo co-hosts My Talk Show, a public affairs TV show aired every Wednesday, 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., at NBN; and Pilipinas Ngayon, a public affairs radio program over Radyo ng Bayan, 736 Khz, every Friday from 5:00 P.M. to 6 P.M.

Secretary Saludo holds a Master of Public Policy and Management from the University of London; a Certificate in Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Hong Kong Institute of Investment Analysis; and a Bachelor of Arts in Literature from the Ateneo de Manila University where he graduated cum laude. He also completed media management courses at the Asian Institute of Journalism, Philippines where he was honored as outstanding alumnus in 2000.
