FIL-AMS TO BE TREATED TO 2-DAY PHILIPPINE PROPERTY ROADSHOW IN NEW YORK CITY

PHILIPPINE CONSULATE - NEWS RELEASE
18 May 2006

NEW YORK --- Filipino-Americans in New York City and environs will soon get a chance to demonstrate their nationalistic fervor through a 2-day Philippine Property Roadshow that will be held at the Philippine Center in New York on May 30 to 31, 2006. This was announced recently by Philippine Consul General to New York, Cecilia B. Rebong.

Rebong said the roadshow is the “Bayan Ko, Bayan Ko” which Philippine Ambassador to the United States, Albert Del Rosario, officially unveiled earlier this month. The roadshow is a joint project of the Philippine Embassy in Washington DC and the Consulate General in Honolulu, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.

Rebong further noted that “the roadshow would serve the three-fold purpose of boosting foreign investments, increasing remittance inflows to the Philippines, and demonstrating the continuing confidence of the Filipino-American community in the Philippine economy and the national leadership.” “It would also give Fil-Ams a rare opportunity to meet with, and select from as many as, fourteen (14) Philippine property developers under one roof,” she added.

During the official unveiling of the roadshow in Washington DC, Ambassador Del Rosario observed that, “our ongoing campaign to increase remittances which President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo had launched in the U.S. resulted in a 31% increase in remittances, or 60% of total remittances for 2005.” In his view, “this new strategy (i.e., appealing to the patriotic spirit of Filipinos in the US to invest in the Philippines’ real estate and property development sector) will not only sustain but improve the level of remittances going forward.”

The NYC-leg of the roadshow officially opens at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 30, 2006. The participating companies will make three presentations of their products and services: Two on May 30, from12:15 PM to 1 PM and from 6:30 to 7:30 PM; and one on May 31, from 12:15 to 1 P.M. From 11 AM to 8 PM on May 30, and from 11 AM to 5 PM on May 31, the companies will entertain walk-in clients and roadshow visitors from booths that they will be setting up at the Philippine Center lobby.

On May 30, the Consulate General will also be open for service to the public up to 8:00 o’clock P.M.

There are twelve (12) participating Philippine property developers, namely: Daiichi Properties, Filinvest Land, Megaworld International, Burgundy Realty, Landco Pacific Corporation, Tagaytay Pacific Heights, Lakeshore Marketing Corporation, Ledesco Development Crop., Pacific Concord Properties, Crown Asia, Brittany Corporation, EDSA Properties Holdings, Philtown Properties, and Jardine Land, Inc. The Philippine National Bank (PNB) and CREBA will also be joining the roadshow.
