NEW YORK --- Philippine Consul General to New York, Cecilia Rebong, recently reported to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto Romulo that the two-day Philippine property roadshow in New York City on May 30 and 31, 2006 attracted more than three (300) hundred visitors thus proving that Filipinos in the U.S. remain bullish on the Philippine real estate market. Dubbed “Bayan ko-Bahay ko,” the property roadshow was participated in by twelve (12) leading property developers from the Philippines, namely, State Properties, Shang Grand Tower, Brittany Corporation, Pacific Concord Properties, Crown Asia Properties, Lakeshore Marketing, Tagaytay Pacific Heights, Megaworld, Ledesco Development, Landco Pacific, Daiichi Properties, and Burgundy Realty.
The roadshow formally opened at 11:00 A.M. on May 30, 2006 at the lobby of the Philippine Center in New York City. Even before the event could formally open, however, hordes of curious community members were already milling around the lobby. When the time came for the formal opening of the roadshow, the number of guests easily surpassed the 100 mark. The number does not even include consular clients who passed by the lobby and talked to the developers on their way out of the building. The participating Philippine property developers were palpably impressed with the steady stream of potential customers.
Day two of the roadshow was equally busy for the developers. Potential customers steadily streamed into the Philippine Center lobby from morning till 5:00 P.M.
Consul General Rebong said that “for a first-of-its-kind event at the Philippine Center in New York, the huge turn-out of visitors is a strong argument for a repeat of the roadshow around the same time next year.” She added that the positive response from community was attributable to the massive information campaign undertaken by the Philippine Consulate General in New York as soon as Ambassador Albert Del Rosario announced the project in Washington, DC, earlier this year. The Consulate General conducted the information campaign through advertisements in the major Fil-Am newspapers in the tri-state area, e-mail blasts, kababayan letters, flyers, and by word of mouth.
