GSIS E-card Plus enrollment by appointment only starting March 12

PHILIPPINE CONSULATE - NEWS RELEASE
16 March 2007

NEW YORK --- Starting March 12, enrolment for, and activation of, the GSIS E-card Plus will be done by appointment only in all the Foreign Service Posts in the U.S. where GSIS has installed e-card enrollment kiosks. These posts are the Philippine Consulates General in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. This was announced by Mrs. Ella Valencerina, Vice President for Public Affairs of GSIS. Mrs. Valencerina said GSIS decided to adopt this “enrollment-and-activation-by- appointment” system in order to manage the number of enrollees per day and also to give pensioners greater flexibility in choosing the date and time when they can go for enrollment and/or activation.

Mrs. Valencerina clarified that enrollment for, or activation of, the e-card is not limited to the dates that were previously announced in print and broadcast media. “Enrollment for, and activation, of the e-card will be on a continuing basis, meaning, pensioners can enroll for and activate their e-card even after the GSIS team leaves for the Philippines because we will leave the e-card kiosk at the Consulates General in the U.S,” she said. Consequently, GSIS pensioners who were unable to enroll for the E-card Plus may still do so but they are advised to first call the following numbers to schedule an appointment:

Philippine Consulate General in New York – (212) 997-2592 or (212) 764-1330, ext. 310.
Philippine Consulate General in Chicago – (312) 332-6458
Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco – (415) 433-6666
Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles – (213) 639-0890

Mrs. Valencerina further clarified that GSIS pensioners can enroll for, or activate, their e-Card in any of the above-mentioned Consulates regardless of their place of residence. This means a pensioner who is a permanent resident of New York can enroll for e-card at the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco or Los Angeles or even Chicago if he or she happens to be traveling to those areas, and vice versa. A pensioner who is traveling to the Philippines can also choose to enroll for the e-Card Plus at his or her GSIS servicing office there if that is more convenient for him/her.
