PHILIPPINE CONSULATE - NEWS RELEASE 10 May 2007
NEW YORK --- All overseas absentee voters who registered with the Philippine Consulate General in New York but did not receive their electoral mails may now personally claim new ballots to be issued to them at the Consulate. They must present their Philippine passports, or dual citizenship identification certificates (ICs), or any other photo identification documents. They will be asked to sign an undertaking that in case they subsequently receive their electoral mail after they cast their vote using the new ballots, they will not accomplish the ballots originally sent to them by mail and will return them to the Consulate. Upon receipt of their new ballots at the Consulate, the original ballots sent to them by mail will be declared void and can no longer be used for voting.
The Philippine Consulate General is located at 556 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10036. In addition to the regular working hours on weekdays, the Consulate will be open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday (12 May) and 9:00 AM of Sunday (13 May) to 3:00 AM of Monday (14 May). Acceptance of accomplished ballots by postal or personal delivery will close on 14 May 2007 at 3:00 AM.
This guideline is pursuant to the latest instruction of COMELEC to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs dated 07 May 2007.
